We've all seen the crowds around the Craps table causing a commotion and want to join in, but let's face it. We're not Demi Moore, and some millionaire isn't begging us to blow on his dice. So, until we hit the gym for eight hours a day and make an appointment with the plastic surgeon, we'll just have to learn the basic bets for Craps for those. - There are 36 ways that the dice can total a number on the craps table. Seven is the easiest number to make and can roll in six ways (1-6, 6-1, 5-2, 2-5, 4-2, 2-4). There are 30 ways another number can roll, so the odds that you will see a winning total on the next roll are 30-to-6, or 30 out of 36.
- The basics of craps are quite simple. Each person standing at the craps table is offered the chance to roll the dice, but this is not mandatory. The dice are passed around the table clockwise starting with the boxman (that's the guy or gal sitting in the middle of the table keeping watch over all of the chips!).
After close measurement of tables I have determined that most tables are either 12 feet or 14 feet in length. This dimension is the length measured from outside chip rail to outside chip rail. The length from rubber to rubber is about 10 inches less. 11'2' or 13'2'.
I have never seen a sixteen foot table but have heard that they do exist.
I have seen an eight foot stand up table that only had one dealer on base and a stickman if it was busy. Ten footers are available from Gamblers General Store.
Geant casino rennes galerie. Hope this clears up some of the length confusion.
Casinos think that the larger table services more customers but IMHO a full 14 footer only gets 80-90 rolls per hour and a 12 footer gets about 100-110.

Roadrunner,
Wait until you have to shoot on a 24-foot land-barge length table.
As Billy would say, 'You can't see the other end of it because of the curvature of the earth.'
By the way, they have one of those two-dealer 8-foot tables at The Boardwalk Casino in LV. They use a short stick and mini- dice. You can read about it in my 'Master of All..Well..Slave to Some' article. They used to have one at the Wild West Casino beside the Orleans Hotel in LV, but I don't know if they still have it.

I have played on the 8 foot table at Wild Wild West (west side of I-15 on Tropicana) in July of 2000 and again in August of 2001. In between those time they put up a sign that says 'No dice setting No dice Banging'. Tried to quick set a couple of times and the stick dealer called me on it. A quick word on those mini-dice. The smaller the dice the more difficult it is to set and control the roll. Especially the control part. Seems that the smaller dice react more when they hit the rubber pyramids - and are easier to knock off axis. I am not sure if this is really a size or weight issue - but it IS an issue. Stick with casinos that used the full size 3/4 inch dice and you'll have better control.

Biloxi's Imperial Palace has 16 foot tables .. so long that you almost have to throw overhand to get them to the wall . I'll only shoot there if I can get the 1st stick right spot . Otherwise I play the don't and pass on shooting . I have had some excellent and profitable don't sessions there . Nobody seems to be able to control a throw from that far away .

At RAMA the playing area is 10 feet long with one foot at each end for chip racks so does this make it a 10 ft or 12 ft table.

I just put together a little practice table, but it feels way too high sitting on top of my Ping-Pong table. Does anybody know the exact height of a table? Is their a standard height, or do they vary from casino to casino?
Thanks in advance
Billy
What Are All The Belts On A Craps Table Top
Steve, Table heights vary some but if you put the landing zone at 27- 28 inches it should feel comfortable for you. The other thing that happens is the heights of the chip rails vary. I don't like shooting at Paris because the rail is higher. If you are tall you might not notice it but short players really notice the difference. I'm 5'10' so I'm kinda in the middle but when the rail gets in the way of the protruding section of my body that's above my belt it will throw me off.

The table I had a chance to put a tape measure to was 26' from the carpet to the surface of the table.
May the dice be nice!

Well, I sort of backed into it. From floor to the chip rack was 38 inches. Now, the rubber pyramid sheets that go on the back wall come in 4' by 9' strips, as I recall. So if I do the math - 38 minus 9 - I come up with 29 inches - which, by the way - is the exact same heigth someone else - I believe the man in black - posted here a few months back. Anyway - I'm thinking 29' to the top of the table surface. If you're table top is 3/4 inch plywood then you're down close to 28' to the bottom of the table. Make sense?

Now, its going to FEEL different to you regardless of the height because you're used to having to lean over the rail. There are some ways to simulate that. Probably the easiest - if you have a bar stool of about that height (or you could use a chair sitting on a box to raise the back high enough - set the chair seat under the table - the chair back against the side in front of you - and stand behind the chair back when you reach down and pick up the dice to shoot. Hey - it ain't perfect, but it's cheap.
